Sting: an all female tattooer exhibit + outtakes!

Hi loves,

I'd like to invite all of you to come visit our exhibit, Sting, on Feb 20 at the Kanto Gallery which is inside The Collective, Makati. It opens 8PM and I believe on that same day a Chronic Wheeze gig will be on, too! So fun fun fun, you get to hang out or meet us (if you want to) and watch a fun art/music show. It's all good, me thinks.

It was soooo nice meeting these ladies, I believe we all got along pretty well and right away, too (most of them I met on the day of the photo shoot). I really do like everyone a lot. I love that they're all really talented and confident, but most of all that they're all really down to earth. I love that. Did I mention that I love that? Haha.

Mostly I like that I now have new girl friends to talk to about tattoo-related things, and makeup and all that, too. All around good vibes, basically.  Oh and also, our photographer Kevin Cayuca was awesome! Check out his stuff. :)

Hong Kong Day 3: the Andy Warhol 15 Minutes Eternal exhibit!!!!!

I was so excited to wake up on this third day in HK.  The Hong Kong Museum of Art was a block away from the hotel and we went there first thing in the morning.

"In the future, everybody will be world-famous for 15 minutes." You have correctly predicted the future, Mr. Warhol.

We weren't allowed to take photos in the exhibit area, of course, but I wish for you to go see this exhibit. It was a very extensive exhibit, with pieces from his childhood til the year of his death in '87. I obviously left the building with my jaws unhinged and my mind blown away.  Needless to say, this was so inspiring.

 

The escalator the led the way up to the exhibit entrance was dressed in hot pink.

 The 15 Minutes Eternal Exhibit will run til March 31, 2013 at the Hong Kong Museum of Art, 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong. For more information, click here.

As sunny as the photos seem, it was actually freezing! It's nice that we found a quaint little coffee shop along the museum compound. The place is called SimplyLife.

Coffee was average, nothing special to be honest, but I was so glad to be indoors that day.  There were very minimal vegetarian options in their menu (just your basic salad and soup).

SimplyLife Bakery Cafe is located at Shop L2-30, Festival Walk.  They have other branches listed here.

After this, we walked a little to the K-11 Art Mall, which I think is one of the tallest buildings in Kowloon. I am in love with the concept of this mall and I certainly wish we had something like this here in Manila.  They bring pop art to the people! Boutiques are curated well, their shopping selection is superb. On the ground floor, just before you step in the mall is this installation--a flying pig!

A number of restaurants in the mall didn't have too much vegetarian options yet again, and by this time I was yearning for un-Asian flavors, so we decided to have pizza and pasta from a restaurant whose name I forget about, sorry. I guess this sort of says something about that restaurant, if I forget what it's called, or maybe about my appetite because this is all I got:

Life updates and happiness

Hi guys, I haven't been updating much because I've been busy cramming work and the past few weeks were...how do I put this-- stressful and happy at the same time! So this may be my longest post so far.. brace yo self.

Weeks ago I got a surprise package on my doorstep. I love surprises and I love packages.

So cute! Maybe the cutest water resistant watch I've ever laid my eyes on. Le sigh.

The swag! 

I was telling my friend Carl weeks ago, about how happy I was with the nature of projects that have been coming my way recently. I was always a believer, but now I think I am the firmest of believers in just simply doing what you love, what you're passionate about regardless of money and fame and all that--and how good things will go your way if you do.  I've been volunteering (in ways I can) for a very awesome set of people/mermaids collectively called Save Philippine Seas. I think I mentioned this in a past post, but I'll mention it again anyway. Anna, one of the chief mermaids of SPS, contacted me one day to ask me if I wanted to design collateral for an upcoming SPS collaboration with Lush Cosmetics. I was ecstatic, of course, and as if it has to be reiterated, I accepted the project.  The Lush/SPS Anti Shark Fin Soap was launched October 15 at the Lush Shangri-la Branch.

Sharks are friends, not food! (They kinda spelled my name wrong, but it's all good. :) ) The anti shark fin soaps smell sooo good (and notice the little paper fin).  They are on sale at all Lush branches by now, methinks, and for a limited time and quantity only.

ALSOOOO, Mitch and I finally launched our exhibit, Karesinda last Saturday at Pablo X! I can't believe we finally launched it. Mitch and I started talking about the possibility of collaborating over a year ago and we've had a couple of dinners/lunches/coffee breaks discussing the project. And now, it's done! Whewwww. (I immediately felt nostalgic the night of the launch though, the pieces are done, now does that mean I don't get to work with Mitch anymore? Haha! Seriously I had the most fun time working with Mitch.)
